The California Coastal Commission featured EGE Foundation in the WHALE TAIL® Grantee Highlights, alongside other organizations funded by the program.
The Commission describes the WHALE TAIL® grant as supporting weekly after-school learning sessions and weekend family coastal experiences, and reports that a grantee networking event led to a new partnership between EGE Foundation and Sacramento Inspiring Connections Outdoors, which has since taken young people to the redwoods in Oakland and the coast at Point Reyes.
Experiences like our Point Reyes trip help young people and families see themselves as belonging in outdoor spaces. Through culturally rooted environmental education and community partnerships, we’re creating opportunities for participants to connect with nature, build confidence, and see themselves as the next generation of environmental leaders.
