Privacy Policy
What this website collects, why, and who else can see it.
This policy explains what this website collects, why, and who else can see it. It covers the website only. It does not cover what happens at an in person program.
What we collect, and when
We do not collect anything that identifies you simply because you read a page, and there is no advertising tracker on this site. We do use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages are read, so we can tell what is useful. It records the pages viewed, an approximate location taken from your network address, and the kind of device and browser. It is set up so your full network address is not stored, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles or share it with advertisers.
We collect information in three situations, and only when you choose to act:
- You send us a form. Our contact, volunteer, site intake, partner, opportunity and newsletter forms ask for your name, your email address, and whatever else that particular form shows on screen. Nothing is collected that the form does not display.
- You create a portal account. Learners, fellows, facilitators, staff and volunteers who are given access to the Education Portal have an account holding a username, an email address, and their progress through any course material assigned to them.
- You give a donation. Donations are processed by Zeffy, not by this website. Your card details never reach us and are never stored here.
Where it goes
- Form submissions are stored in this website’s own database and emailed to EGE staff. They are not sent to any mailing list provider, advertising platform or data broker.
- Donations are handled by Zeffy under its own privacy policy. EGE receives the information a donor chooses to share, such as a name and email address, so that a receipt and a thank you can be sent.
- Security records. Our security plugin records request details, including IP addresses, so that attacks on the site can be blocked. These records exist to protect the site and are not used to build a profile of you.
Cookies
This site sets a cookie only when it has to. That means a login session cookie if you sign in, cookies our page cache uses to serve the right version of a page, and Google Analytics cookies that tell a repeat visit from a first one. There are no advertising or cross site tracking cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, and the site works without them.
How long we keep things
Form submissions are kept while they are useful to the inquiry they relate to. Portal accounts are kept while the person has access. Security records age out on their own. You can ask us to delete anything about you that we hold, and we will unless we are required to keep it.
Children
EGE works with young people, and much of our programming serves minors. This website is not where a young person signs up for a program: enrollment happens through a school, a community site or a parent or guardian, offline. Where a form on this site could be completed by a minor, we ask that a parent or guardian completes it instead.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from any EGE email using the link in that email, or by replying and asking. Email [email protected].
Other sites
Where we link out, to Zeffy, to a partner, to a news article or to a video, that organization’s own privacy policy applies once you leave this site.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version replaces this one on this page.
