One journey
Learning that happens where the work is.
Programs run on farms, in parks, on the water and inside schools, rather than in a room set aside for them.
EGE runs three core programs designed as one connected journey. A child can meet EGE in a reading circle before they can read fluently, spend their middle-school years learning on land and water, and leave as a paid facilitator teaching the next group.
The three core programs
- EGE Out! Environmental Education. The After-School Program, edVentures & Family Camp, and the Family & Community Camp Experience.
- Jr. EGE Pioneers. The JEP Interns for ages 12 to 16, and the Roots Fellows for ages 16 to 24.
- Little EGE Dreamers. Early childhood literacy and reading circles.
Each stands on its own. Together they are the pipeline.

Every child we reach is a generation changed.
EGE is a small, Black-led organization doing this work in Sacramento, in Texas and in Uganda. Support goes straight into programs for young people.
