ABOUT US

Eternal Generations Emerging (EGE) Foundation

The EGE Foundation is a Black-led nonprofit building a movement for equity, sustainability, and youth leadership through culturally rooted education and community-powered programs. We empower BIPOC youth and families across generations through STEAM learning, environmental justice, outdoor education, workforce development, early childhood literacy, and global cultural exchange. From our Junior EGE Pioneers and Little EGE Dreamers programs to our flagship EGE Out! environmental and leadership initiative, we’re creating transformative experiences that foster healing, resilience, and systems change—locally and globally.

Our Mission

To empower BIPOC youth and families through culturally rooted education, outdoor experiences, and community-driven programs by creating transformative opportunities in STEAM, sustainability, wellness, and leadership to build equity, resilience, and lasting change.

Our Vision

To strengthen and empower the next generations of Change Makers in our BIPOC communities, that will create positive social, economic and environmental impact.

Our Journey

Eternal Generations Emerging (EGE) Foundation was built into a social enterprise, founded by Sydney Mathis in 2021. As a young black environmental professional, native to Sacramento, CA and a first-generation college graduate with a master’s degree, working in natural resources, Sydney developed the organization to inspire innovative thinking towards success.

By discovering a deep love of nature and the environment at an early age and throughout lived experience, Sydney wrote the narrative of the“EGE Story”, a deep dive into her family history in the Timber Harvest Industry in the Southern Unites States, elevating the purpose behind the organizationbecoming a steward of the environment and education alike, knowledge, wisdom and experience transcends throughout the communities she serves.

Our Approach

Strategic Partnerships

We believe in building strong relationships with community organizations and educational institutions, and businesses that align with our mission. By cultivating a sense of connection in our communities, we can work to achieve our goals together.

Global Relations

We believe in building strong relationships with global non governmental organizations (NGOs), other community led organizations and educational institutions that align with our mission.

Impact Investment

We provide youth with education, training and preparation for the workforce to work with businesses focused on environmmental sustainability and developing the next generations of STEAM industry professionals.
